Christmas markets and city shopping streets become more crowed this time of year and with this can come potential pickpockets, who use these crowds as an opportunity to successfully take items from your person. 

With this in mind here is some information on how to keep yourself safe while out enjoying the festive shopping season. 

Always zip or fasten handbags and keep them positioned in front of you where you can see them. 

Pickpockets often target easily accessible pockets in crowed areas, make sure that these items are in harder to reach places. 

Pickpockets may bump into you, ask questions, or cause a commotion to divert your attention.

Keep phones, cash and other valuable items out of sight when not in use. 

If you see something or someone acting suspiciously, notify shop or event staff or call the police. 

Your awareness is one of the strongest tools against theft.
